Fall Sports Transfer Portal Dates

  • Cross country: Nov. 22 - Dec. 21, 2026

  • Field hockey: Nov. 16 - Dec. 15, 2026

  • Women's soccer: Nov. 17 - Dec. 16, 2026

  • Men's soccer: Nov. 24 - Dec. 23, 2026

  • Volleyball: Dec. 7, 2026 - Jan. 5, 2027

  • Women's water polo: Dec. 1-30, 2026

  • Football (FBS/FCS): Jan. 2-16, 2027, with a 5-day extension for players in postseason games on or after Jan 12

Winter Sports Transfer Portal Dates

Basketball

Men's and women's basketball each get a 15-day window opening the day after their national championship game: women's will be approximately April 6-20, and men's will be approximately April 7-21, 2027. Similarly, a separate 15-day coaching-change window opens five days after a new head coach is hired or publicly announced.

Ice Hockey

Men’s and women’s ice hockey each get a 15-day window starting the Monday after their national championship game:  women’s will be March 23-April 6, 2026, and men’s will be April 13-27, 2027

Spring Sports Transfer Portal Dates

  • Baseball: June 1-30, 2027

  • Softball: June 8-22, 2027

  • Track and field: May 28 - June 26, 2027

  • Tennis: May 4 - June 2, 2027

  • Lacrosse: May 10 - June 8, 2027

What If My Coach Leaves?

Regardless of sport or season, a head coaching change opens a 15-day transfer window five days after the new hire is announced. This exception exists separately from each sport's standard window.

What You Cannot Do Outside Your Window

You cannot officially enter the portal, and coaches at other schools cannot contact you about transferring, until your window opens. Entering the portal does not guarantee eligibility at your next school: academic, residency, and certification requirements still apply.
